10.04.2020 Gospel Matthew Chapter 21

The Lord be with you.

The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew

Jesus said to the scribes and to the Pharisees, "Listen to this parable. There once was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a fence around it and he dug a vat and he raised a tower. And then he leased the vineyard out to tenant farmers and he went off on a long journey. When harvest time came, he sent his servants to collect his share of the produce. When the tenant farmers saw them come, they laid hold of them. One, they treated shamelessly, another one they killed, and a third one they stoned. The landlord sent other servants and they were treated in the same way.”
“Finally, he thought to himself, I will send my son. Surely they will respect him. When the tenant farmers saw the son they said, 'Here is the heir, let us kill him and then we will have the inheritance.' So they laid hold of him and they dragged him out of the vineyard and they killed him. Now, this is the question, what will that landlord do when he returns to the vineyard?" And they said to him, "He will take those wretched tenant farmers and he will treat them as they deserve." Jesus said, "Have you not read, the stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone? This is God's doing. And it is wonderful in his eyes. Well, I tell you, the kingdom of heaven will be taken away from you and will be given to those who will bear fruit in due season.
